Man Sentenced for Kidnapping, Involuntary Manslaughter in Death of Toledo Teens

TOLEDO, Ohio-Cruz Garcia, 25, of Toledo, was sentenced to 20-25 years in prison for his role in the kidnapping and involuntary manslaughter of two teenagers in Toledo. He pleaded guilty in January 2024 after initially facing murder charges. Garcia abducted the teens from a home in south Toledo and took them to an abandoned house on Chase Street, where their bodies were found after the house burned down. The deaths were ruled homicides by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office. Several others involved in the case have also received sentences, including life imprisonment for Brent Kohlhoffer and Charles Walker.
