CINCINNATI, Ohio-Michael Quarles, who was 17 at the time, pleaded guilty on Monday for hitting and killing 18-year-old Cayden Turner and injuring another University of Cincinnati student in a crosswalk near campus. The incident occurred on September 21, 2022, when Quarles sped through a red light.
Turner was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the other student sustained serious injuries. Quarles fled the scene but was apprehended a week later. This incident happened two weeks after Quarles removed an ankle monitor assigned to him following a previous charge. He was sentenced to more than a decade in prison.
