MONROE, Ohio-A fifth-grader is among the latest suspects as multiple school districts investigate threats this week. It comes after a series of school threats last week led to the arrest of six teenagers.
-Monroe Local Schools are closed on Wednesday due to a safety concern. Although officials do not consider the threat credible, they are canceling classes to allow time for a thorough investigation by local law enforcement.
– Middletown City Schools have increased police presence at Middletown Middle and High Schools following a new threat, which is unrelated to previous threats that resulted in student charges. The district emphasizes student and staff safety and zero tolerance for threats of violence.
– Lakota Local School District responded to a vague social media threat mentioning “Lakota Middle School,” which does not exist. After investigation by school resource officers and West Chester Police, they confirmed no threat to safety and praised students for reporting the concern.
– Springboro Schools have boosted police presence as a precaution after students raised concerns about a threatening social media message involving another Ohio district. The threat did not directly involve Springboro but warranted increased security measures.
