Oberlin City Schools Takes $22M Bond Issue Off November 2024 Ballot

OBERLIN, Ohio-Oberlin City Schools has withdrawn its 4.21-mill, 37-year bond issue from the November 5 ballot, which was intended to raise $22 million for a new middle school. The decision, made by the board of education, means the district will not seek additional funds from taxpayers beyond future property tax increases starting in 2025. Instead, the district plans to use revenue from increased property values due to recent reappraisals and the NEXUS pipeline. The new middle school will offer advanced classrooms and technology. The district aims to enhance educational opportunities and support student development with this investment.
