EDISON, Ohio-The community rallied around 18-year-old Colton Burkey from Edison High School in Ohio after he was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic melanoma in March.
They organized events like Colton’s Heroes Benefit and The Smash Cancer Send Off, a motorcycle donation ride, to raise funds for his immunotherapy and medical expenses. Colton expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, and his mother, Barbara Burkey, noted the uplifting impact it had on his spirits, saying she never expected it to be as significant as it turned out to be.
