COLUMBUS, Ohio-An Ohio House committee has significantly reduced a bill aimed at increasing transparency for private schools receiving taxpayer-funded scholarships. The committee removed key provisions from House Bill 407, including the requirement for private schools to submit an annual report on voucher fund usage to the Ohio Department of Education and post it online. Additionally, the bill no longer mandates that scholarship students take the same state standardized tests as public school students, allowing private schools to choose from nearly 40 alternative assessments instead.
