Sisters Reunited After 60 Years Apart: ‘I Saw Her, and I knew Who She Was’

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Teresa Scharf, who was adopted from Athens, Greece, as a baby, spent decades in central Ohio before embarking on a journey to uncover her ancestry. Her curiosity was sparked when she was expecting her first child and wondered about her biological parents.

After her adoptive parents passed away, she began actively searching for her roots. With the help of the Efthichia Project, she underwent DNA testing and found a first cousin in Chicago, leading her to discover a dozen first cousins in Greece. Eventually, she received the life-changing news that Angie was her sister. They joyfully connected over the phone and planned a meeting in Athens, Greece, where they met for the first time on March 17.
