Cedarwood Elementary School is setting the stage for future careers in science, technology, engineering, and math through its TECHie Club. Coding new video games, designing and 3D printing new toys, and more, the after-school program introduces third through fifth grade students to hands-on learning in fields that will shape the workforce of tomorrow.
“Our role has shifted as educators,” said Rodney Johnson, principal at Cedarwood. “We are now charged with the task of preparing our students for jobs that don’t currently exist, and TECHie Club is a means to that end. By exposing our students to engaging and exciting new programs, they are gaining confidence while building the prerequisite skills needed to become the future leaders of tomorrow.”
