April 7th, 2024-WARREN, Ohio-Trumbull County Children Services is urgently seeking foster homes for approximately 130 children under its care, emphasizing the importance of keeping children safe and maintaining connections within their community. A meet-and-greet event on September 13 will provide insights from foster caregivers, adopted youths, mentors, and caseworkers to encourage community involvement.
Eligible foster caregivers undergo training, screenings, and home checks to ensure suitability. Most children in need of fostering come from Warren, with efforts made to keep them in familiar surroundings and together with siblings. Nationally, foster care needs are rising, especially for children with mental health issues stemming from drug-involved backgrounds. Human trafficking poses a significant risk to foster children, highlighting the crucial role of stable, supportive homes in safeguarding vulnerable youth.
