April 10th, 2024-CHARLESTON, Ohio-At a recent Charleston County School District Board of Trustees meeting, teachers and members of the public advocated for livable wages for all educational staff. Despite a previous salary increase and bonus, teachers express concerns about affordability in Charleston County.
The discussion also focused on ensuring fair compensation for all school-based employees, including teachers’ assistants and front office staff. Over 100 public comments were submitted in support of increased compensation. The proposal aims to address teacher vacancies and retain talented educators. Further budget workshops are scheduled before the budget’s first reading in May.
