Ashtabula Lakeside High School to be Closed ‘for the Time being’ after Snow Causes Part of Roof to Collapse

SAYBROOK, Ohio-Heavy lake-effect snow has forced Lakeside High School in Saybrook Township, Ashtabula, to shut down after part of its roof collapsed over the weekend. The area has received over five feet of snow, leading to water damage and the structural failure. The collapse affected the academic wing of the school, and engineers have deemed the building unsafe. Repairs could take weeks, leaving the district to figure out how to educate the 800 students. Plans are being made to relocate students, possibly to the nearby middle school or through a partnership with Kent State University.
