In a little over a month, the “bathroom law,” which requires people to use the restroom of the gender they were assigned at birth, will go into effect in Ohio.
The Columbus City Schools Board of Education discussed how the new law could change its policy on transgender students. The board presented a draft version of the new policy for its first reading.
It laid out a number of different changes, including one in which students can only use the bathroom consistent with their sex assigned at birth. The proposed policy changes also said information about students’ gender will be available to staff when necessary.
