GERMANTOWN, Ohio-Olivia Kozuszek, a teenager from Germantown, suffered a severe neck injury after falling 25 feet off a water slide last June. Despite initial dismissal from a nearby emergency room, Olivia’s mother insisted on seeking a second opinion at Dayton Children’s Hospital, where they discovered a spinal cord bruise and ruptured ligaments in her neck.
Olivia underwent surgery on her 15th birthday to correct her injuries. Despite a lengthy recovery involving physical therapy, Olivia has fully healed and is back to her normal self. Her story highlights the importance of pediatric trauma care provided by Dayton Children’s Hospital.
