MOUNT VERNON, Ohio-Knox County voters decisively rejected the career center’s 1.5 mill continuing permanent improvement levy, with 8,796 votes against and 11,182 votes for, resulting in a 2,386-vote margin. The superintendent expressed disappointment but acknowledged the challenges posed by property tax re-evaluation. The district faces aging infrastructure and capacity issues that need addressing. Similar rejections occurred in six other counties within the district. Despite the setback, gratitude was expressed towards supporters and the levy committee for their efforts.
