Mt. Healthy Teachers Vote ‘No Confidence’ in Superintendent, Administration Amid Fiscal Emergency

MT. HEALTHY, Ohio-The Mt. Healthy Teachers Association expressed a “No Confidence” vote against Superintendent Valerie Hawkins and the Mt. Healthy Board of Education due to fiscal emergency and budget cuts. The district faces significant deficits, projected at $7.5 million by year-end and over $90 million by 2028.

This turmoil has prompted community members like Angela Davis and former school bus driver Brandon Wynn to reconsider their involvement with the district. The association cited layoffs of 83 employees, including teachers and administrators, as evidence of the district’s challenges. MHTA President Julie Wakefield emphasized the gravity of the decision, expressing disappointment in the leadership’s ability to address the crisis and provide answers.
