SUMMIT, Ohio-Ohio lawyer Daniel E. Perrico has been suspended for two years, with one year stayed, after pleading guilty and being convicted of furnishing alcohol to minors and assault. Perrico gave alcohol to his 15-year-old stepdaughter and her two 18-year-old friends, one of whom he allegedly sexually touched while intoxicated.
Perrico’s conviction stemmed from an incident where he supplied alcohol to the teens to the point of intoxication, resulting in one becoming sick and requiring assistance. Perrico was initially charged with sexual imposition but pleaded guilty to assault, as he believed providing alcohol to the teens constituted harm. He received a suspended 120-day jail sentence and community control. Despite his conviction being sealed, Perrico’s ex-wife reported it to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, leading to a complaint filed against him. The Board of Professional Conduct found Perrico in violation of rules prohibiting lawyers from acts affecting their honesty or trustworthiness and questioned the basis of his plea change.
