Ohio Record Broken with 63 Confirmed Tornadoes Statewide

COLUMBUS, Ohio-In 2023, Ohio has experienced an unprecedented tornado season, with 63 tornadoes confirmed by mid-year, surpassing the previous record of 62 set in 1992. This includes a recent EF-0 tornado in Huron County, which touched down briefly and caused minimal damage. The heightened tornado activity is part of a broader trend of severe weather across the region and the country. Despite the significant number of tornadoes, there have been no reported fatalities. The season typically peaks in June but remains active through the summer and into late fall. With half the year still ahead, the count is expected to rise further, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and preparedness.
