COLUMUS, Ohio-The Ohio Council of Behavioral Health & Family Services Providers reported concerning trends in youth mental health but also highlighted positive developments in school-community partnerships. Their data, covering from 2017, shows a 223% increase in school-based behavioral health services provided by community behavioral health centers (CBHCs). Currently, 3,610 schools, including public, private, and charter schools, offer critical services such as screening, prevention, treatment, and crisis intervention through CBHCs. Last year alone saw a 21.8% growth in school-CBHC partnerships. Of these partnerships, 87.5% provide clinical or treatment services, 88.5% offer prevention services, and 60% engage in crisis intervention.
