2-Month-Old Dies; Adult and Child Critically Injured in House Fire in Bedford

BEDFORD, Ohio-A tragic house fire in Bedford on Thursday night left a 2-month-old boy dead and an adult and another child in critical condition. The fire occurred around 10 p.m. on Forbes Rd., and when firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor. Due to the house’s balloon-frame construction, the fire spread quickly through hidden void spaces, making it difficult to control. A child had managed to escape and alerted neighbors, but when crews entered the home, they found an adult and infant unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive the infant, the child died at the scene, while the adult and another child were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state fire marshal.
