BEREA, Ohio-The Berea City School District amended its Release Time for Religious Instruction (RTRI) policy following legal consultation. Previously, the policy allowed students to be released during school hours to attend religion classes, but it has now been changed to classify all courses as core curricula. This amendment effectively prevents students from being released for religious instruction during school hours. The original policy, in place since 2015, was revised and approved by the Berea Board of Education members during their July 8 regular business meeting.
