BEXLEY, Ohio-At the Bexley Board of Education meeting before the school year started, teachers expressed strong dissatisfaction with district administration over handling a recent incident involving a third-grader with autism who was restrained on a playground. Teachers felt unsupported and believed the administration’s responses were insufficient. In May, two teachers were placed on leave and resigned in July after an investigation into their use of restraint. The teachers claimed the restraint was necessary for safety, while the student’s mother disputed this account. Union President Jay Scott criticized the district for lacking leadership and support and highlighted ongoing concerns.
