BEDFORD, Ohio-Bedford City School District teacher Carmen MacCannon has been named among the top 10 finalists in the America’s Favorite Teacher Contest sponsored by Reader’s Digest. With 19 years of teaching experience, MacCannon finds fulfillment in building lasting connections with her students and their families.
The winner of the contest stands to receive $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, and a feature in the magazine. A Bedford graduate herself, MacCannon currently teaches preschool at Central Primary and aspires to attain her administrator’s license in the future. If she were to win, MacCannon intends to use part of the prize money to support her daughter’s pursuit of a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, aiming to alleviate the burden of student loans for her child.
