Cincinnati Children’s Working to Help Kids Suffering From Peanut Allergies

CINCINNATI, Ohio-Scientists and doctors in Cincinnati are addressing peanut allergies, which affect millions of children in the U.S. and have seen a significant increase over the past two decades. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is at the forefront of research and treatment, offering options such as peanut patches, clinical trials, and new medications like palforzia, which can raise tolerance levels.

Oral immunotherapy is also utilized, involving small, increasing amounts of peanut flour to desensitize patients. Additionally, researchers are exploring innovative methods like a peanut-based toothpaste to trigger immune responses in the mouth. While these approaches are still in early stages, they offer hope for managing peanut allergies. Contact Cincinnati Children’s Allergy and Immunology department for more information on available options.
