Cincinnati Public Schools Budget Task Force’s Day One Concludes Amid Job Loss Anxiety

CINCINNATI, Ohio-The Cincinnati Public School District’s special budget task force commenced talks to address a $31.6 million budget deficit, marking a day of extensive discussions described as a “marathon” by union and district officials.

Interim superintendent Shauna Murphy, deputy superintendent Alesia Smith, treasurer Jennifer Wagner, and all six unions engaged in the talks from 9 a.m. Concerns outside the district centered on potential cuts, with parents like Farasha Moore expressing worry about the impact on education quality and staff morale. Wagner emphasized the likelihood of job cuts to mitigate the deficit, a sentiment echoed by Board President Eve Bolton.
