This action follows Simmons’ recent actions of holding press conferences on school property without notifying the district and reporting board members to state authorities for alleged misuse of public funds and ethics violations. Board President Christina Vera emphasized that the resolution is not retaliatory but aimed at ensuring the safety of students and staff. The board stated that the censure reflects its commitment to transparency and maintaining a secure environment. This marks the second time the board has censured Simmons, the first being in May over a leaked document controversy. The board declined to comment further after the meeting, and Simmons has not responded to requests for comment.
