COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Columbus City School Board approved the demolition of three vacant buildings: Deshler Elementary, the old Wedgewood Middle School, and the Franklin Annex. The demolitions, scheduled to begin in February, will free up about 160,000 square feet of land. Tensions arose during the vote between censured board member Brandon Simmons and Board President Christina Vera, following Simmons’ involvement in leaking a memo about school closures and consolidations.
