Columbus State Prepares Students as Big Tech Moves into Central Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio-The manufacturing industry in Central Ohio is expanding rapidly, especially with Intel’s upcoming semiconductor plants in Licking County, which will create significant job opportunities. Columbus State Community College (CSCC) is addressing the workforce gap, with thousands of manufacturing jobs unfilled each year. Assistant Dean Mark Mahoney highlighted the pressing need for workers, estimating that the demand could double as tech companies move in. Intel alone is expected to bring 3,000 jobs, primarily for technicians, and CSCC is preparing students with programs in semiconductor manufacturing. Additionally, over 350 suppliers are expected to follow Intel, further increasing job opportunities in the region.
