MIDDLETOWN, Ohio-Following an incident where a 15-year-old student was hit by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk near the Lakota East Freshman campus, increased safety measures are being implemented for the remainder of the school year. The student was seriously injured and remains hospitalized.
In response, there will be heightened law enforcement presence during arrival and dismissal times, with ongoing safety discussions planned. Concerns about speeding and safety along Bethany Road, where the campus is located, have been raised by parents. Additional safety measures are being reviewed in collaboration with local authorities.
