Around Christmastime for the last several years, Hope Community Church of the Nazarene has raised a few thousand dollars to give to an organization in need. For 2024, a member of the congregation suggested the church take on Oregon City School District’s school lunch debt.
Across the country, data finds the national public school meal debt is estimated to be around $262 million dollars. This affects hundreds of thousands of students nationwide who cannot afford school lunch.
