COLUMBUS, Ohio-A national survey conducted by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center reveals that a majority of parents experience isolation, loneliness, and burnout due to the demands of parenthood. Two-thirds of surveyed parents feel isolated and lonely, with a similar percentage experiencing burnout from their responsibilities.
Additionally, nearly two in five parents lack support, while four in five express a desire to connect with other parents outside of work and home. Many parents, especially those working from home, miss the personal interactions and small talk that come with in-person communication. Loneliness can have significant negative impacts on physical and mental health, including cardiovascular disease, depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and weakened immune system.
