CLEVELAND, Ohio-On May 6, 2013, Amanda Berry made a desperate 911 call from a neighbor’s house in Cleveland, reporting her abduction and 10-year captivity by Ariel Castro. With police assistance, Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight were rescued and taken to the hospital.
Charles Ramsey gained fame for aiding their escape after hearing Berry’s screams. Berry was holding her child fathered by Castro. Ramsey recounted the events, expressing regret for not intervening sooner.
