Ohio Child Care Providers Now Can tap $85 Million in New State Grants

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Governor Mike DeWine has initiated an $85 million grant program to enhance child care availability in Ohio, utilizing repurposed federal funds. The program aims to establish new child care facilities, expand existing ones, renovate center buildings, and provide specialized training for children with special needs.

Five different grants, ranging from $25,000 to $100,000, are available, with applications due by April 26 and awards expected in early May. Applicants must apply through the Ohio Professional Registry. DeWine emphasizes the importance of quality child care in preparing children for school and fostering economic growth.

The grants include the New Center Start-Up Grant, offering up to $500,000, and the Program Expansion Grant, providing up to $50,000 for centers and schools, or $5,000 for family child care.
