CLEVELAND, Ohio — As prom and graduation season nears, parents, youth under 21, limo drivers and store owners should know they can face criminal charges for taking part in or allowing underage drinking, according to the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control.
The legal age to drink is 21 in Ohio. Anyone who purchases, sells or gives alcoholic beverages to underage youth could get a $1,000 fine and/or up to six months in jail.
