CINCINNATI, Ohio-Boys Hope Girls Hope of Cincinnati (BHGH) has partnered with Xavier Jesuit Academy to provide STEM education to students after school. The program, which began when the academy opened in August, currently engages nearly 40 fourth and fifth graders. BHGH’s executive director, Maurice Huey, emphasizes that making STEM learning fun and hands-on opens up various educational opportunities. The program includes lessons in coding, where students create dance routines for virtual characters using popular music. Academic success coordinator Tyrome Bembry highlights the importance of motivating students and preparing them for college. He believes that STEM education is crucial for combating poverty and empowering students to contribute economically to their community. This initiative is part of BHGH’s long-term mission to support students’ futures.
