Pilot Program Aims to Place More Foster Children in Erie, Huron counties

ERIE, OhioOhio Governor Mike DeWine and Ohio Department of Children and Youth Director Kara B. Wente announced over $2 million in funding to expand a model aimed at helping foster children find homes in Erie and Huron counties. The Treatment Foster Home Pilot Program will match foster children with significant behavioral health challenges with families equipped to support them.

The program replicates and expands upon the Northwest Treatment Foster Care Partnership, which has successfully placed foster children in homes instead of group facilities. The pilot will offer family support, crisis counseling, and specialized training to ensure children with complex needs can thrive in a home environment. By utilizing a regional approach and combining resources from multiple counties, the program aims to efficiently connect foster children with nurturing homes.
