April 8th, 2024-COLUMBUS, Ohio-On Monday, a rare total solar eclipse will pass over Ohio, drawing thousands of visitors eager to witness the moon fully covering the sun. This event, the first total eclipse since 1806 in the state, is expected to bring moments of total darkness to parts of northern Ohio, with central areas experiencing at least 95% coverage. The eclipse will occur between approximately 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with totality lasting just under four minutes around 3:10 p.m.
Various viewing locations and times are available across Ohio. To ensure safe viewing, protective solar eclipse glasses are essential, as they shield against harmful ultraviolet rays. Cameras, binoculars, and telescopes must also have special solar filters for safe observation. Live updates and coverage of the eclipse will be provided by 10TV throughout the event.
