South Euclid-Lyndhurst School District Host School Bus Rollover Training for Staff and Fire Department

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio-First responders and school bus drivers in South Euclid and Lyndhurst participated in a training exercise on Tuesday to prepare for school bus rollovers. Hosted by the South Euclid-Lyndhurst School District, the drill involved an out-of-service bus flipped onto its side to simulate a rollover scenario. This exercise, which included local fire departments and school transportation staff, focused on emergency evacuation techniques and using tools to safely remove passengers. Veteran bus driver Debra Williams emphasized the importance of the training, despite the rarity of such incidents. Lt. Jeff Turchon and Captain Nick Martin highlighted the challenges of handling rollovers and accessing the bus. The training, one of the first of its kind in Ohio, aims to improve readiness for such emergencies as the school year approaches.
