CINCINNATI, Ohio-Due to the failure of a levy in March, Franklin Schools announced changes impacting every elementary student, including the closure of Pennyroyal and Anthony Wayne Elementary. Dr. Mike Sander stated that over $2 million in cuts were necessary, resulting in the consolidation of students based on grade level into different buildings.
Despite concerns about longer commutes and larger class sizes, Dr. Sander emphasized the need for change due to financial constraints. While some parents are apprehensive, they hope to navigate the changes and keep their children in Franklin Schools. The district plans to wait until May 2025 to propose another levy after receiving clear feedback from taxpayers.
