COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Annie E. Casey Foundation Kids Count Data Book report reveals that 71% of Ohio eighth graders lack proficiency in math, a trend worsening both statewide and nationwide since 2019. Professor Nick Gurski from Case Western Reserve University emphasizes problem-solving as a fundamental skill in math education, highlighting the importance of perseverance and mental tenacity.

A Cleveland middle school math teacher noted similar insights, particularly regarding the impacts of implementing a cellphone-free policy in the school, which likely aids in fostering concentration and problem-solving skills among students.
