Tri-State Swim Schools, Pools Offer Free Swimming Lessons as Summer Approaches

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio-A recent CDC report indicates a rise in drowning incidents, with 4,509 recorded in 2022 compared to 4,067 in 2019. Emphasizing the importance of swimming and water safety lessons, the CDC recommends starting early, as demonstrated by parents like Jen Wadsworth, who has enrolled her one-month-old son in swim lessons.

Despite potential barriers like cost, options for free swim lessons exist in the Tri-State area, such as scholarships offered by Goldfish Swim School and the “I Can Swim!” program at Cincinnati Recreation Center pools. Goldfish Swim School integrates water safety education into children’s swim lessons, focusing on skills like getting out of the pool independently and proper response if submerged. Additionally, they advocate for approved life jackets over puddle jumpers for children’s safety.
