NORTHWESTERN, Ohio-Hermanio Joseph, a 36-year-old Haitian immigrant, is facing charges of first-degree felony involuntary manslaughter and fourth-degree felony vehicular homicide for his involvement in a collision between a minivan and a Northwestern school bus, resulting in the death of one child and injuring dozens more.
Joseph’s lawyer argued in opening statements that the sun was in his client’s eyes, leading him to cross the center line and causing the accident.
