Dedicated Educator Preparing to Retire After Five Decades of Nurturing Students

RIDGEMONT, Ohio-An open house at Tri-Rivers Career Center celebrated Bruce Gast’s remarkable 50-year career in education. Starting as a social studies teacher in 1974, Gast coached various sports at Pleasant Junior High School before becoming principal at Pleasant Elementary in 1980.

He later served as superintendent at Ridgemont and Elgin Local Schools before retiring, yet continued mentoring and filling interim roles. Gast’s influence extended beyond the professional realm, engaging with students in plays, band performances, and even embodying characters like the “Blues Brothers.” Now retiring as assistant superintendent at NCOESC, Gast leaves a legacy of dedication, family love, and a passion for music and travel, inspiring future educators.
