Kettering Students Invent Device so Friend can Throw First Pitch at Dragons Game

KETTERING, Ohio-A third-grade student at Prass Elementary, Lola Zimmer, designed a device to assist her fifth-grade classmate Neil, who has limited physical movement due to cerebral palsy, in throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the Dayton Dragons game. Neil, who can only use his arms slightly, utilized Lola’s device, which is activated by a head switch, to throw the ball. The project, which brought the school together, was celebrated at Day Air Ballpark, putting both Lola and Neil in the spotlight.
