Lucas County Children Services has achieved national certification for its participation in Ohio START.
“START certification for Lucas County is a huge deal,” said Lucas County’s Ohio START Supervisor Keri Vebenstad. “It means that we are meeting or exceeding all of the standards for the child welfare practice.”
The state-wide program began in Lucas County in 2019. It has since served 46 families and 88 children. Ohio START pairs families experiencing addiction with a peer mentor who is in addiction recovery.
