CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio -Alexa Stakely, a speech-language pathologist at Winchester Trail Elementary in the Canal Winchester Local School District, tragically passed away while trying to save her 6-year-old son after her car was briefly stolen in southeast Columbus. The incident occurred after she finished her second job as a waitress and was picking up her son from the babysitter’s house. Stakely, described as compassionate and dedicated by District Superintendent Kiya Hunt, had worked in the district for five years and was known affectionately as “Ms. Alexa” by her students. She will be remembered for her commitment to helping children develop their communication skills and her devotion to her son.
