TOLEDO, Ohio-A Lucas County grand jury has indicted 22-year-old Tyler Williams for the 2021 shooting that killed 11-year-old Nathan Sumner and injured his 14-year-old brother, Miguel. Williams faces charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and discharging a firearm in prohibited areas. He is currently serving a 10- to 13.5-year sentence from a plea deal related to the injury of Miguel, who sustained permanent brain injuries from the incident. The boys were shot while playing basketball outside their home in Toledo. Additionally, 18-year-old Marquise Figures, another suspect in the case, was sentenced to 20-24 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and attempted murder.
