Portsmouth Mom Indicted for Involuntary Manslaughter in Baby’s Death

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio-Kristen Vassar, a Portsmouth woman, has been indicted by the Scioto County Grand Jury in connection with the death of her infant, Tamen Briar King. Vassar was arrested in February and has been held at the Scioto County Jail on a $180,000 bond.

The indictment includes charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, endangering children, drug possession, and tampering with evidence. The incident occurred at Vassar’s residence, where the infant was found unresponsive, and both fentanyl and cocaine were discovered. Vassar’s next court appearance is scheduled for a pretrial hearing.
