Spring Hill Students Raise $943 for Local Dog Rescue

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-Spring Hill Elementary organized a community service project where students donated $1 or $5 for paper hearts, with proceeds benefiting Lakemore Dogs Homeward Bound rescue organization. The fundraiser, initiated by second-grade teacher Ann Morrison and expanded to include all 20 classrooms, raised $943.

Kellie Chapman, the rescue’s founder, was deeply moved by the support, expressing gratitude for covering vet costs for rescued dogs. The rescue, started 15 years ago, takes in around 150 to 200 dogs annually, mostly returned to owners. Top donors enjoyed a classroom party and a visit from Chapman and her Boston terrier, Alex. Morrison highlighted the project’s importance in teaching children about giving back to the community.
