Tiffin Schools Postpones Start Date for Students’ Wellbeing During Oppressive Heat

TIFFIN, Ohio-Tiffin City Schools has postponed the start of the school year from Tuesday to Thursday due to extreme heat, with temperatures and heat indices exceeding 100 degrees. Superintendent Jerry Nadeau emphasized that sending students to school in such conditions, especially without air conditioning, would negatively impact their learning and wellbeing. Parent Sarah Leonard supports the delay, particularly because her diabetic son is sensitive to heat. While some have criticized the decision on social media, Leonard and Nadeau agree that prioritizing student safety and comfort is crucial.
