CINCINNATI, Ohio-The Cincinnati Board of Education is appointing an interim superintendent following the separation agreement with outgoing superintendent Iranetta Wright, who resigned after receiving a vote of no confidence from all six unions within Cincinnati Public Schools. The agreement includes paying her through the end of her contract in 2025, with health insurance benefits.
Board President Eve Bolton expressed pride in Wright’s tenure but acknowledged the need for unity. However, board member Ben Lindy disagreed with the decision, advocating for mediation. He criticized the board’s handling of the situation and expressed concerns about future leadership. Lindy felt the process was rushed, while Bolton cited a lack of collaboration with unions and community leaders as reasons for Wright’s resignation. Both Bolton and Lindy agreed they would rehire Wright given the chance, despite their differing views on the separation agreement.
